The topic of discussion does not go back to grass roots, does not look at a historical perspective of Australian Yarding (even though we all know how fun that is) or even delve into why things are the way they are. It looks at the art, or more so, the tag Team Divisions of the world.
Now I'm not talking about the odd, "oh shit we got 4 wrestlers left, and i don't want this to be a 8 match card, so umm you 2 vs them 2" kinda scenario. I'm talking about the full fledged tag teams that have emerged over time, and the divisions that exist around the world.
I'm not sure if it is just me, but tag team wrestling divisions in yarding has never been given a lot of thought. Sure I am aware that there have been recognised Tag Team Champions in federations (in the yarding arena), but has enough respect/time been given to this field which I think holds great potential?
Truth be told, there might be some hidden agenda here to plug the upcoming IYHWA Tag Team Tournament (Ok, I lied about the whole not talking about Aussie Yarding thing), but it did raise some valid points. As far as IYHWA is concerned, there has never been a recognised (at least publicly) Tag Team Championship on offer in any fed in Australia... No i know I am limiting this discussion to feds such as IYH, HVWA, YWF, LCWA, SCWS and the like. But i would like to know why this is the case... It is valid to have a fully fledged Tag Team Division in a federation? You tell me...
Personally, I think Tag Team wrestling is an area that has been left untouched for the most part. It holds awesome potential and can open up a whole range of feuds, match types and awesomeness that I feel we have been missing out on. And as far as alliances are concerned, Pro Wrestling is almost built on who is friends with who, what faction you belong to etc. So why is it that yarders have generally strayed from this path?
Maybe im just blabbing on, But id like to hear what people think on this issue... Whether it be positive or negative.
